In Louisiana, we have so many myths and legends that you can live your whole life here and never hear of all them. Recently, I came across the story of the Louisiana "Parlangua Swamp Monster". The Parlangua is a half-man, half-alligator creature that prowls around the swamps and bayous of Louisiana. Have you ever had a run in with the Parlangua?

The legend goes back to the 1960s in Rapides Parish, where reportedly a car was pulled out of the bayou, and the driver was found in the vehicle half eaten. Since then, reports have surfaced from all over Louisiana of the half-man, half-alligator eating dogs, livestock and even people.

In the early 80s, a Colorado band called The Cahoots even wrote a song about the Parlangua called "Legend Of The Parlangua". Pretty great tune too!

So, what say you? Do you or anyone in your family have any stories about the Parlangua?
