The University of Nebraska Cornhuskers football team has a national reputation. They are well coached, very talented and they are good human beings. Jack Hoffman is a 7-year-old boy who has dreams of someday wearing a Nebraska uniform and leading his 'Huskers to victory. Jack is currently involved in another fight. Jack has cancer.

This past Saturday 'Husker nation gathered together in Lincoln to see the future. It was the annual spring game. The spring game is where fans and coaches get a sneak peek at the team's talent for the upcoming fall. This year the fans of Big Red got to see one of the most amazing running backs to ever wear a Cornhusker Jersey. It was Jack Hoffman in the backfield for the most amazing run of the afternoon.

I have a very warm place in my heart for Nebraska football. A few years ago our Ragin' Cajuns traveled to Lincoln to play Nebraska. The 'Huskers were the much better team that afternoon. While the fans could have gloated, rubbed it in, or been a bunch of jack wagons, they weren't. The Nebraska fans were very cordial, very kind and the true picture of sportsmanship. They thanked us for coming, they applauded us for supporting our team, they were true fans of college football. They were not fans of just winning like some fans that fill the stadiums of some other schools.

The world of big time college football is often clouded by stories of improper recruitment, over zealous boosters and off the field indiscretions. Those stories grab the headlines. I guess they are what people want to know about. This is a story people NEED to know about. The story of Jack Hoffman, Nebraska football, and a stadium full of fans that got to witness a defining moment in life. There are a lot of different ways to win in life, Nebraska was undefeated on Saturday.
