Many people will be flocking to the movie theater this weekend to see a film based on the best selling book 50 Shades of Grey. The book was all the talk of the literary world during it's time at the top of the best seller lists. The first reviews of the film have not painted a pretty picture of how the translation of the book to the big screen manifest itself.

Those lukewarm to tepid to all out panning reviews have not stopped people from buying tickets. In fact it is the southern states of Louisiana and Alabama where online ticket retailer Fandango says it has seen two times the amount of pre-sale tickets purchased. Mississippi is leading the pack in pre-sales for the movie buying tickets at 4 times the normal rate.

"We looked at which states are buying more tickets for '50 Shades of Grey' then are usually bought in a pre-sale situation,And all of the states that are buying a lot more tickets are in the south."

David Karger, chief correspondent for Fandango went on to tell the Louisiana Radio Network that ticket sales for '50 Shades' is the fastest selling ticket for an "R" rated movie in the companies 15 year history.

"Maybe people in the south are into things that are more edgy. Maybe they're randier -- that's what we're realizing."

Online sales have continued to be brisk across the country and many theaters opened at midnight to take advantage of the hype surrounding the film. If you're not familiar with the plot line of the movie you might want to read more about it before you go. There is a very strong sexual content to the story.
