This Day In Country Music History: Garth Brooks at AMA’s [Video]
I love going back in country music history and seeing what our favorite country stars were up to. Thanks to CMT.com, I learned that on this day (January 29th) in country music history in 1996, Garth Brooks refused to accept his American Music Award for Favorite Artist of the Year!
I guess we learn something new everyday. What makes this even more interesting is that, according to CMT.com, Garth said backstage that night that the award should have gone to Hootie + The Blowfish (whose front man is our very own Darius Rucker).
If you, like me, were too young to remember any of this, I found the video of how it all happened.
Garth Brooks did walk away with two other awards that night so he didn't leave completely empty handed!
