(KMDL-FM) The United States Navy and the Blue Angels demonstration team have confirmed only one performance in the skies over Louisiana in 2026. The team will make the quick trip over from Pensacola Naval Air Station to be the featured performers at Thunder Over Louisiana, an airshow scheduled for Lake Charles, Louisiana, on August 28-30.

The Blue Angels performance at the Lake Charles air show had been announced some time ago, but there had been concerns over the current military action in the Middle East. It appears that those concerns have been laid to rest, and the show, with the Blue Angels, will be good to go at Chennault International Airport in Lake Charles.

Formed in 1946, the Blue Angels highlight the best of America's Navy and Marine Pilots. The members of the team consist of active-duty Sailors and Marines who perform highly synchronized, low-altitude maneuvers—often flying just inches apart. Oh, and they are traveling at several hundred miles per hour.

Thunder Over Louisiana will also feature several other airborne acts, including the F100 Super Sabre F, the Titan Aerobatic Team, and Kevin Coleman. Coleman is an acrobatic pilot who flies under the banner of Red Bull, so you know his portion of the show will give you "wiings".

The show will also feature static ground exhibits as well as exhibits that go fast on the ground. Yes, I am speaking of Smoke-N-Thunder, and if you like your trucks connected to rocket-powered engines, then you won't want to miss that "fly by" on the ground.

You may inquire about tickets and VIP Seating at the Thunder Over Louisiana website. You will find several options when it comes to choosing how you want to enjoy the show. If you'd like to volunteer, it is our understanding that many volunteer positions are available for those who would like to help.
