Summertime in the South usually does not go by without several mentions of heat, humidity, and mosquitoes. Of those three things, there is only one that you can actually do something about.

Here in Louisiana, we all understand the importance of mosquito abatement. Besides the discomfort we get from their itchy bites there is also the danger of mosquito-borne illnesses that create even more concern.

Health experts suggest protecting yourself from mosquitoes by applying sprays, creams, and ointments to the skin. Often the ingredients in these concoctions "hide" you from the bloodthirsty insects. For me, the drawback with these products is the smell and the overall stickiness of the residue left behind. That's why I was excited to learn of a mosquito patch.

The Mosquito Patch works just like the stop smoking patches. The active ingredient in the patch is transmitted through the skin. However, what makes this patch so attractive to me is the fact that it's all natural. The major deterrent to a mosquito attack is Thiamine or vitamin B1.

Thiamine is not well received by mosquitoes and other biting insects. They hate the stuff. The patch makes sure that your bloodstream is supplied with enough of the thiamine to keep the pesky pests at bay.

Just simply apply the patch to any part of your body that you choose. You can apply it to your arms, legs, lower back, or even your buttocks. The patch handles the rest and you don't have to worry about parts of your body you may have missed with creams, sprays, and ointments.

Does it work? Well, so far so good. I will be able to provide more conclusive testimony at the end of the summer, whenever that happens to be. My guess is that the mosquitoes will go into hiding sometime in November until then I will stick it to them with The Mosquito Patch.
