Popular Coke Product in Short Supply as Production Paused

(KMDL-FM) Fans of a popular product distributed by the Coca-Cola Company might have difficulty finding that product after it was revealed that production of that beverage has been paused. The reason for the production pause is a good one, but still in the short term, if you're a fan, you might find yourself having to search a little harder than you planned on searching.

The reason for the production pause, as we mentioned, is positive. The product is not being pulled from store shelves because of a recall or labeling issue. The product is, in fact, not being pulled at all. The reason you might have to search for it is because of the reduction in supply.

Coca-Cola Pausing Production of Popular Product for Improvements

Officials with the Coca-Cola Company say the facilities that make the product are being upgraded. So while this might mean a shortage in the near term, it should bode well for an uninterrupted supply of the beverage once those facility upgrades have been completed.

The product in question comes from Mexico, and despite current unrest and unsettling stories from that nation, this reduction in production is not politically motivated, at least as of now, it's not. The product in question is one that was acquired by Coca-Cola in 2017. The product and its brand were added to the Coke family of products as a way to diversify the company's product line.

Which Coke Product Is Getting Harder to Find?

If you are a fan of water-based beverages and don't care for sugary drinks, you're probably familiar with Top Chico Mineral Water. That is the product that you might have difficulty finding over the next few months as those facility upgrades to wells and production plants in Monterrey, Mexico, are being made.

Now, you might recall that last year, a limited batch of Topo Chico Mineral Water was the subject of a recall due to Pseudomonas. Those can be found naturally in some water. That issue was resolved.

We should also clarify that this production pause only affects the Topo Chico Mineral Water. The other varieties and flavors of Topo Chico are not affected.
