FDA Announces Recall of 3 Popular Coca-Cola Sodas

(KMDL-FM) On a warm but not too hot fall afternoon in Louisiana, the refreshing taste of cold soda pop can sure hit the spot. For a lot of soda enthusiasts in Louisiana and the Gulf South, the drink of choice on the soft drink side is Coca-Cola. Or, as we pronounce it in the South, "Cocola". No matter what you call it before you put it past your lips, you might want to consider this information: there has been a recall issued by the FDA on certain Coca-Cola soda products.

The products in question are three that Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, LLC produces. That operation is based in Texas, and that state is "ground zero" for the recall focus, but given Louisiana's close proximity to our neighboring state, it's probably a good idea that folks in The Boot are aware of the recall.

The recall notice was posted by the FDA over concerns of metal contamination. We should note that the recall was initiated by Coca-Cola Southwest, and so far, we have not been made aware of any illness or injury that might have been caused by the reasons for this recall.

Based on distribution reports, it does appear as though all of the recalled products were sent to or sold in Texas stores. The following products and production codes are included in this recall.

If you find that you have some of the recalled product in your home or business, you are encouraged not to consume those products. Instead, you may take the unused portions of those products to where you bought them and request either a refund or a replacement.

Because Coke and Coca-Cola products have such widespread distribution, we did want to make clear that this recall is for these particular products and production runs only. Your other Coca-Cola products are safe to consume.
