Two Dead After Eunice Shooting; Two People Being Questioned
Two people are dead after a shooting incident in Eunice according to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot via a press release.
Fontenot says that the Eunice Police Department was inundated with multiple telephone calls last night after seven o'clock about shots being fired!
In information obtained from officer, Fontenot says the initial information indicates that two people died after shots were fired during an altercation at the the intersection of East Laurel Avenue and Nimitz Street.
One person died at the scene, and one person was taken to an area hospital. That victim died as a results of the shots that were fired. Fontenot says the man was just unceremonious left at the door of the hospital. He says that victim was dumped at the emergency room door. Some people in a dark-colored truck, pulled up, pulled the person out of the vehicle, banged on the door to the emergency room and left. It wasn't very long after that, Fontentot says, that the victim was pronounced dead.
Chief Fontenot says he is pleading with the public to come forward with information about what started this shooting incident. He doesn't want to know who you are, he just wants your information so these culprits can be brought to justice. There are several ways you can give information anonymously. He says you can call the St. Landry Parish Crime Stoppers line at 337-948-TIPS (8477). Another way to give information, you can call The Eunice Police Department at 337-457-2626. There is another way to give information, and you can do that by using the P3 app to anonymously give information.
While two persons of interest are being questioned, this is an ongoing investigation, and more arrests are possible.
Fontenot would like to thank the following agencies for helping in the search for suspects and the investigation:
- The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office
- The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office
- The Mamou Police Department
- The Eunice City Marshal's Office
- The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office
Please help if you know something. Fontenot says it's time for the violence to stop.
