U.S. Navy SEAL Team 6 Saves The Lives Of Two Prisioners
U.S. Navy SEALs parachuted into a camp in Somalia under cover of darkness early on Wednesday. They crept through the camp where an American woman and Danish man were being held hostage. The nine kidnappers were dead and both hostages were freed shortly there after.
Obama authorized the mission two days earlier by SEAL Team 6. The team was also the same that infiltrated the compound and killed Osama Bin Laden. Shortly after the president's State of the Union address to Congress he called the American girl's father to tell him that his daughter was safe.
The Danish Refugee Council confirmed that the American Girl, Jessica Buchanan and Danish Man Poul Hagen Thisted, were "on their way to be reunited with their families."
Buchanan and Thisted were working along side a de-mining unit of the Danish Refugee Council when they were kidnapped in October by gunmen.
