With the apparent truce between the Vermilion Parish School Board and Jerome Puyau apparently still holding and the fact that school has been out because of the pandemic we just haven't been hearing too much about the internal goings-on of education in Vermilion Parish lately.

It appears as if that is about to change.

The Abbeville Meridional is reporting that all eight members of the Vermilion Parish School Board have been subpoenaed to appear before a Vermilion Parish Grand Jury on Thursday. That information was confirmed to KATC Television by Board Member Kibbie Pillette.

In addition to the board members, several other members of the school system have been asked to appear before that grand jury too. From what we understand, there has also been a subpoena issued for certain documents as well.

Back in 2019, there was an investigation into the board concerning possible malfeasance. That investigation was suspended indefinitely. It could be possible that new and further relevant information has been made available, hence the Grand Jury's request for the meeting with all parties involved.
