The issues, both personal and professional, between Vermilion Parish Superintendent of Schools Jerome Puyau and the Vermilion Parish School Board appear to once again be heading back to court.

This time it's Superintendent Puyau filing the charges. According to a report in the Daily Advertiser, the suit claims that Puyau's civil rights were violated by the board and four named members of the board when they attempted to suspend him from office twice and tried to have him removed from his job.

The suit, filed in the Vermilion Parish 15th Judicial District Court names three current members of the board, Laura LeBeouf, Kibbie Pillette, and David Dupuis. Also named in the lawsuit is former Vermilion School Board member Sara Duplechain.

The VPSB has reportedly scheduled a special meeting for later today to receive a report on the case. A hearing for preliminary injunctions in the case has reportedly been set for Tuesday.

This marks the fifth time since Puyau signed a new contract in 2018 with Vermilion Parish that the Superintendent and the Board have come to blows in the legal system.
