Volunteers Needed for Trash Bash April 24 in Lafayette
Tired of seeing trash around Lafayette? Here's your chance to help do something about it!
Volunteers are needed for the upcoming Trash Bash from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 24. Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to sign up.
Not only can individuals volunteer for the clean up, but nonprofits, businesses, community organizations etc are encouraged to volunteer as well.
KATC reports volunteers can either choose to clean a location in Lafayette Parish, or to clean the Bayou Vermilion.
When Trash Bash is over, volunteers will be treated to a different kind of bash at the BVD’s Begnaud House that will include "lunch, live music, and prizes" according to KATC.
Trash Bash is a joint effort between Environmental Quality Division of Lafayette Consolidated Government and the Bayou Vermilion District.
Volunteers can get supplies for the cleanup such as gloves, trash bags, trash grabbers and visibility vests at the BVD’s Begnaud House, across from the Beaver Park Pavilion in Lafayette. Supplies can be picked up in advance of Trash Bash by calling the Lafayette Recycling Office at 291-5637 or by emailing recycling@lafayettela.gov.
If you choose to clean Bayou Vermilion, you can use personal watercraft for the cleanup. Boats with motors will launch from Beaver Park, while canoes and kayaks will launch from the dock near Vermilionville.
Register to volunteer by visiting unitedwayofacadiana.com, by calling 291-5637 or by emailing. recycling@lafayettela.gov.
