Waffle House Introducing New Waffle Louisiana Fans Will Love
(KMDL-FM) If you've ever had to make the drive from New Orleans to Lafayette in the middle of the night, or even worse, make the drive from Lafayette to Shreveport during the dark hours you know what a thrill it is to see the familiar yellow sign with black lettering shimmering in the distance at the exit up ahead.
Yes, that beacon of goodness, that oasis of all-you-can-drink coffee is the Waffle House. For the long-haul truck driver or the weekend road warrior, it's long been the perfect place to pull over, use the restroom, and refuel.
Why Is Waffle House So Popular in Louisiana?
I would have to say it's consistency. I don't think there have been any major changes to the Waffle House menu since they opened their first store in 1955. Of course, I am kidding but honestly, besides the recent egg surcharge, when was the last time you heard any news of a Waffle House adding something new or removing an old favorite from their menu?

Let me help you out with that last question. The last time Waffle House made a significant menu change was in 2016 when the restaurant removed a couple of specialty items from its daily offerings. Just for clarity's sake, the restaurant does experiment and try new items at certain stores as a way of test marketing so it's not like the menu is static but for practical purposes, it just doesn't change that much.
Until now, Waffle House has announced that it will be adding a new waffle to the menu that is sure to be a crowd favorite in Louisiana. That waffle is the new Strawberry Shortcake Waffle. It's described as a hot, golden, fluffy, Waffle House Waffle topped with strawberry-flavored gems, crispy shortcake crumbles, and whipped cream.
When Is The Last Time Waffle House Changed Its Menu?
The new "served anytime" treat is the first significant addition to the menu since 2012 when the chain added Apple Cinnamon Oat Waffles to its waffle choices. Speaking of choices at Waffle House they have, in the past, offered both strawberry and blueberry waffles but those were the specialty items that were removed back in 2016.
The new waffles should be available at a Waffle House location near you, just remember if you get hungry in the middle of the night on a weekend you can't dine in at a Waffle House. They will gladly bring food to your car if you order through the app but because of security issues the chain no longer opens its dining room for guests between midnight and 6 am in the early morning hours of Saturday and Sunday.
