Want to Be in a Stephen King Movie? One is Filming Near Louisiana
If you ask a typical Louisiana resident what scares them, they'll usually reply "The government". For a lot of along the bayou that's the scariest thing we can think of. But right after the government on our list of things that scare you'd probably see the name Stephen King.
Stephen King is such a masterful horror writer that just looking at his picture gives me the heebie-jeebies. The mind of Stephen King has delivered such sleep-with-the-lights-on favorites like It, The Shining, Salem's Lot, Carrie, and Pet Sematary, and we're just scratching the surface of how frightening this man's imagination gets.
But, if you like that sort of stuff and you're not unnerved by blood, guts, scary people, and driving on I-10 then your big show business break could be just a few hours down the road.
Beginning Monday the latest Stephen King film "The Life of Chuck" will begin filming along the Gulf Coast. A majority of the scenes planned for the next few weeks will take place in Mobile, Alabama, and in Baldwin County Alabama. To put that into perspective that's where the Alabama Buc-ee's is located.
Casting agencies and talent brokers have put out the call that the film will need some 1,000 extras. Many of those positions do pay fairly well and they don't require any particular acting skills or talents. In fact, several talent brokers are simply looking for specific body types and ethnicities.
Here are some examples of what Barefoot Models put out for perspective performers in their casting call. The Life of Chuck will be needed for the position of stand-ins in the film.
White male - 6’2” (several days), Black male- 5’10” (several days), Black male - 6’1”, White female 5’11”, East Indian male (or dark Caucasian) 6’4”, White male- 5’9”, white male - 6’1”
That information was featured in an article about the movie on the Biloxi Sun-Herald website. And if you'd like to be considered for the position you can email the production team at lifeofchuckbg@gmail.com. Make sure to include "stand in" in your subject line. From what we hear the going rate for a person selected could be as much as $125 a day.
You may also use the same address if you'd like to be considered as an extra in the film. You'd just change the subject line to "extra" when you send the e-mail. And, our advice would be to send that email as soon as you can since filming is scheduled to begin next week. Not all extra positions are compensated but in most cases, you at least get fed.
