Just when it seemed that this year's Mardi Gras was a bust (no pun intended), creative people from all over saved the day.

From the traditional Chicken Run in Mamou, a Single Float Parade in Lafayette, and a sole man sitting along the parade route in Lafayette, the real Spirit of Mardi Gras is alive!

In the city that is synonymous with Mardi Gras, people decorated their homes to spread the Mardi Gras Love. These "House Floats" were even included on an online map so that people could take a tour of the neighborhoods featuring the decorated homes.

WWOZ in New Orleans posted a video of their "tour" of the Mardi Gras House Floats, and I must say, it made me want a Hurricane. (To drink, silly.)

The creativity of these decorations makes me wish I had gone to New Orleans at some point prior to this freeze to check them out.

Hopefully, this trend will continue for years to come. (Not the weather trend; the House Floats trend. This weather is for the birds. Ducks, to be precise.)
