Yep, There Was an Actual Verot School and Here’s Where it Was

Verot School Road was named after the school it led to, but where the heck was the Verot School building located?

Where Was Verot School In Lafayette?

In any of your numerous travels along Verot School Road, if you've ever wondered if there used to be an actual Verot School in Lafayette, you're not alone.

Doing some good ole fashioned internet sleuthing, we uncovered the answer to that question and more.

Thanks to Craig Zimmerman and the Facebook page "Lafayette Memories", we got the details on the original location for the school using maps from the USGS dating back to 1954 and overlaying with the current map.

As you'll see in the map below, Verot School was located where CVS is now at the intersection of Ambassador Caffery and Verot School Road.

The dotted lines leading from it and crossing the train tracks (who knew?) is Farrell Road.

It's kind of crazy how hard it is to find information about the old Verot School. It's not clear what year the school opened, but records do show Verot School operated until 1940.

From what we're told, the original Verot School building still exists and is now located somewhere on Kaliste Saloom.
