The upcoming total eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024 has the entire world buzzing.

Although the path of totality will happen just outside of Louisiana, we still have a few places to view and experience the eclipse that will still be pretty amazing.

Total Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024

In an event that won't happen again for 20 years, people around the world are really excited for the upcoming total eclipse event set to peak at 1:48 PM on Monday, April 8, 2024.

The total eclipse will last up to 4 minutes and 28 seconds in some locations, making it a longer eclipse compared to many others.

The path of totality, where observers will experience a total solar eclipse, will pass through parts of Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

For the United States, the solar eclipse will cover several states from Texas in the southwest, through the Midwest, and up to Maine in the northeast.

Best US Cities In The US To View Solar Eclipse 2024

To experience the complete totality of the upcoming eclipse 2024, you'll want be near the center line of the eclipse, where totality will last the longest.

Some of the best places in the US that are positioned along the total eclipse path are:

Kerrville, Texas

Lampasas, Texas

Sulphur Springs, Texas

Russellville, Arkansas

Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Vincennes, Indiana

Best Places In Louisiana To View 2024 Solar Eclipse

Although Louisiana isn't included in the 2024 solar eclipse path of totality, here in South Louisiana, we'll have a better view of the eclipse than we thought.

"Though south Louisiana won't experience a total eclipse, watchers in Baton Rouge and Lafayette will witness 87% coverage.

The moon will not completely cover the sun, but the sun is expected to take a crescent shape and create crescent-shaped shadows."

Alexandria - 91.63% Obscuration

For some reason, Lake Charles isn't listed as one of the best places to view the 2024 eclipse in Louisiana.
