It will be a bittersweet homecoming when the Lafayette Little League team returns from the Little League World Series in South Williamsport Pennsylvania. The hometown bayou crew was eliminated from the tournament last night by a score of 10-0. They were bested by the hometown favorites from Keystone(PA) Little League. Even though their last game did not end the way the team or their legions of fans wanted it to end, this was a great year. We are so grateful that the coaches and players and families allowed us to be a part of this incredible journey.

I know here at 97.3 The Dawg we are very proud of the way this team represented our town, our region and our state in front of a world wide audience. It is truly a shame that in an event such as the Little League World Series there can only be one trophy given out because each team and each  player is a champion in their own right.

For the Lafayette  team elimination means finally shaking off the dust of an amazing summer and begining the focus on back to school and homework. For the parents it's a time to return  jobs, carpools and getting back into the day to day routine of life.  But no matter how much homework, or housework or staff meetings or social studies projects that will show up in the future. These kids and these families will always have the World Series Summer of 2011 to look back upon.

Their efforts this year will serve as an inspiration for next years team. Thank you Cardiac Cajuns, your spirit and sportsmanship was a great reminder that there are still a lot of great reasons that our future on and off the baseball diamond is in more than capable hands.
