Man Convicted Of Trying To Rape Girl In Library

23-year-old Christopher Brown of Opelousas has been convicted of trying to rape a 13-year-old girl in the Vermilion Parish Library in Kaplan in 2011.

According to our news partners at KATC, Brown attacked the girl after she went into the bathroom, grabbed her from behind and threw her to the ground. But Kaplan Police say she was able to resist his attack until an off duty security guard, who heard her screams, ran to help her, then detained Brown until police arrived.

A sentencing date has not been set yet but Brown could face a maximum of 40 years in prison.
