72-year-old Willis Amos Semien and his wife, 66-year-old Lou Anna Semien, have died after a house fire early Monday morning.

St. Landry Parish firefighters were dispatched to the home on Highway 358 around 4:21 am. They found the couple among the charred remains after they were able to get the fire under control.

Their 19-year-old daughter, a 14-year-old foster child and their 11-year-old granddaughter all were able to escape and tell neighbors who made the 911 call alerting authorities.

Investigators are still trying to figure out the cause of the fire, but they do know that it began in the area of the living room. State Fire Marshal investigators, along with local authorities, continue to investigate.

The couple's bodies have been released to the St. Landry Parish Coroner's Office for autopsy.
