If you've driven through the heart of Lafayette lately, you've probably noticed our growth is not stopping anytime soon.

Of course, everybody knows by now that we're getting a Costco on Ambassador Caffery between Kaliste Saloom and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Then a little further down it's the big Whole Foods shopping center going up.

And I'm sure you've seen a few more spots in town where you were left wondering, "what are they building here?"

There is a good chance that a lot those places will be restaurants. According to the Lafayette Consolidated Government's Permit Office, nine permits for new restaurants have been issued since January 1.

In addition, LCG Permits Supervisor John Broyles said Panera Bread has not yet submitted its plans to build a restaurant in the former CiCi's Pizza location on the corner of Johnston and College, but the company is expected to do so.

Then local Vietnamese restaurant Saigon Noodle is opening a second location on Johnston St.

Here is the list of restaurants proposed or permitted in Lafayette since Jan. 1:

Bullrito's, 2918 Johnston St.

Twin Peaks, 5801 Johnston St.

Acadiana Grilled Cheese Co., 519 S. Pierce St.
