Chances are most of your holiday travels are long over and all you have left to do is rip down the remaining painful reminders of Christmas around your house. Today would be a good day to de-Christmas the inside of your house. Tomorrow will be a better day for removing lights, inflatable reindeer, and giant snowflakes.

The forecast for almost all of Acadiana includes rain. The National Weather Service office has the probability listed a 100% so that would mean most of us. The rain is a combination of a warm Gulf air mass that has settled over the region. This Gulf air has a lot of moisture in it, hence the fog of the past few days. It will also mean abundant precipitation when the catalyst of a weather system moving out of Texas interacts with it.

Right now forecasters with the Storm Prediction Center have included a slight threat of severe weather into eastern sections of Acadiana. Generally east of the Atchafalaya Basin and on into southern Mississippi. The remainder of Acadiana could see thunderstorms and some heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours as the system in Texas moves eastward.

The outlook for Sunday and the return to work and school for many on Monday is very nice. Temperatures will be 10-15 degrees cooler in the afternoon but the skies should be mostly sunny. The long range look for the week ahead shows Acadiana will have mostly sunny skies through Friday.

For those who like to take  care of their outdoor plants be advised that  an extra shot of cold air will be moving into the area by Wednesday. In fact temperatures Thursday morning could be below freezing in many parts of Acadiana.
