Lottery Confirms Louisiana Ticket is $290,000 Winner

That Lady whose last name is Luck has once again sauntered through Louisiana leaving winning lottery tickets in her wake. Last night lottery players in Louisiana had their choice of three big draw games. The jackpots for Lotto and Easy 5 had not been won in several months and the Powerball game, fresh off a billion-dollar winner, was in the process of rebuilding its multi-state fueled jackpot too.

The top prize in last night's Powerball game was estimated to be $46 million at the time the ping pong balls were released from the hopper. Here's how that drawing unfolded for Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

The Powerball website confirms that no tickets sold for Wednesday's drawing matched the numbers needed to claim the game's top prize. In Louisiana, there were no big-money winners sold. In fact, the top prize won by a Powerball ticket purchased in Louisiana for last night's game was only $200. There were three tickets that matched the numbers needed to claim that prize.

Lady Luck was a little kinder in Texas as far as Powerball is concerned. Officials with the Texas Lottery say three big-money winners were sold there. Two of the tickets were $50,000 winners the third was a $100,000 winner. The $100,000 winner had opted-in on the game's Power Play option.

Louisiana's Lotto game had a top prize last night of an estimated $1,050,000. 00. There were no tickets sold that matched the numbers needed to claim that prize. However, the Lotto game did produce nine winners of $1,051 dollars last night. So, if you played you might want to take a look at your ticket.

The game that scored the biggest win in Louisiana last night was the Easy 5 game. That game had not produced a winner since Memorial Day weekend back in May. At that time a ticket sold in Gonzales was determined to be the winner of a jackpot of $280,000.  Which is a bit ironic.

The reason for the irony is last night's winner in the Easy 5 game will take home a top prize of $290,000. So, last night's jackpot and last May's top prize were only different by $10,000. Oh, and the winner's point of purchase is different too. Last night's $290,000 Easy 5 winning ticket was sold in Slidell. Officials with the Louisiana Lottery have not released details on the actual point of purchase for that big-money winner.
