Authorities in Amite, Louisiana say rabbit hunters found human remains in a wooded area on Monday.

According to a Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office news release, investigators believe the remains are of a middle-aged man.

The skeletal remains have not yet been positively identified and the cause of death is under investigation.

The remains have been sent over to the LSU Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services lab in Baton Rouge for analysis.

No further details have been released at this time.
