Today the Louisiana Tax Free Shopping for International Visitors location will open at the Dillard’s store in the Acadiana mall.

The new refund center will be in the customer service department of Dillard’s.

LTFS Commission Chairman Steven Windham says,

“We’re very excited about the opportunity to partner with Dillard’s and Acadiana Mall. We appreciate the long association we’ve had with Capital One, but with the growth of international travel and the tax free shopping program, we felt the timing was right for this move. This new location will be able to reach visitors at a key shopping destination and offer expanded hours on nights and weekends.”

The center is moving from its original location in Capital One to the mall.

President and CEO of the Lafayette Convention and Visitors Commission Ben Bertholot says,

“The state experienced an 18% increase in international visitors in 2013. While Lafayette Parish has always been a popular destination for Canadians and the French, we are beginning to see a larger variety of international visitors to our area. The LTFS program is an excellent tool to encourage visitors to spend money in our area, and we are excited that the new center will be easily accessible to our international visitors at the Acadiana Mall.”

Officials with LTFS says their program showed $32 million in tax free eligible purchases were made in 2013 by international visitors to the state of Louisiana.  They say it is one of the reasons many of them choose to come to the state.

How does it work? Louisiana Tax Free Shopping allows international visitors to get cash back for taxes at participating stores throughout the state.
