Newly Opened Tiana’s Palace at Disneyland Already Getting Bashed for Their ‘Creole and Cajun Cuisine’

There is an area of the Disneyland Park in California known as New Orleans Square.

In there, you will find attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion and several New Orleans-themed restaurants.

There are table-service restaurants like the Blue Bayou Restaurant (pictured below) and Café Orleans and quick-service ones like Royal Street Veranda and Mint Julep Bar.

Me and my family recently went to Disneyland and ate at a couple of these restaurants. I even tried the gumbo.

I know, I'm a brave man.

While it's not quite what we make here, it wasn't nearly as bad or bad-looking as the infamous "Disney gumbo" that made its internet rounds a couple of years ago. But it still wasn't what I would call "from around here."

Now, there is a brand-new restaurant in New Orleans Square that just opened on September 7. It's called Tiana's Palace and it's based on the popular feature-length movie that many of us know and love, The Princess and the Frog.

Tiana's Palace is a quick-service restaurant that is "a reminiscent slice of the elegant French Quarter...Soak in the lively culture of New Orleans through new menu items inspired by the flavors of the Crescent City -- including Southern comfort dishes and plates with a Cajun and Creole twist.

According to its menu, some of the fare available includes House Gumbo, 7 Greens Gumbo with Chicken & Andouille Sausage, Cajun Spiced Half Chicken, Muffuletta Sandwich, Gulf Shrimp and Grits, and House-filled Beignets.

Oh, and then there's the Beef Po-boy Sandwich. The description of the entire plate is as follows:

Slow-cooked Beef in Gravy dressed with Shredded Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle and Mayonnaise on a Toasted New Orleans French Bread, served with Red Beans & Rice and House-made Pickles.

Someone shared on X what it looks like and asked for the good folks to discuss it. Give it a gander.

As you can imagine, did the fine people ever discuss? Oh, you bet.

First off, for me, that's a whole lot of pickles. You got some on the side and on the sandwich. And what the heck is up with them red beans and rice? A bit watery, don't you think?

Y'all, when is Disney going to learn? Can't they bring in some chefs from Louisiana to show how to make these basic Cajun and Creole dishes and especially assist with the presentation?

This is just sad. And this is coming from someone who loves Disney and its parks and cruises, and just everything...except their continued sad excuse for Louisiana cuisine.
