Shakin’ Out the Good Stuff – School Supply Events in Acadiana

Just like a simple shake or two of Morton Salt onto our favorite foods can enhance the flavor, a sprinkling or two of kindness across South Louisiana can help thousands of students begin the new school year with a taste of confidence.

This week our Shaking Out the Good Stuff spotlight from the Moron Salt Week's Island facility shines on a number of groups and a number of parishes across Acadiana. There have already been many school supply drives and donation events and now the time has come to distribute the proceeds of South Louisiana's kindness.

Our friends at KATC Television have chronicled a large list of events that were planned for this year's return to school. Many events have already been held but just in case you still needed supplies for your child or you wanted to make a donation, we wanted you to have this comprehensive list at your fingertips.

School Supplies in Acadia Parish

Some of the school supplies and related events that are still on the schedule include, a back-to-school seminar sponsored by the Crowley Branch of the National Association of University Women Inc. This event will take place at 6 pm at the MLK Pavilion on West Hutchison Avenue in Crowley on Friday, August 18th.

School Supplies in Lafayette Parish

Community Honda is still taking donations for back-to-school supplies through Friday, August 12th. This supply drive is hosted by Once Was Inc. That is a local veteran's organization. School supplies of all kinds are needed and will be disseminated to those in need at Community Honda from 11 to 1 on Friday. 

School Supplies in St Landry Parish

Southern Styles and CUts and Roman Kings are hosting an event in Eunice on Sunday, August 13. This event will take place at 920 Laurel Street. The event will offer free back-to-school haircuts for kids, plus free school supplies, and snacks too.

As we mentioned there are many other community organizations that have already held a school supply drive or are planning other events to help parents and kids negotiate the beginning of a new school year.
