Summer is approaching quickly which only means one thing:  summer camp! Your kids are going to love what Acadiana has to offer when it comes to fun, active, summer camps. Here's what is heating up throughout the hottest season!

The camp schedule is designed to meet the summer needs of most families with sessions beginning June 2 and running through August 1. Several camps have multiple sessions, with a few offering half day or full day options. With such a variety of camps, there is certainly one that will fit your child's interests.

  • On Voyage Dans Le Temps A Vermilionville will be hosting it's second annual summer camp series on four separate weeks during the summer months. Kids will experience the entire Vermilionville package. They will learn about the earth, plants, the bayou, and work with artisans and musicians. This camp is for children between the ages of 5-12.   • Historic Delta Grand Theatre Summer Youth Program is a three-week camp where children will learn drawing, painting, collage, mask-making, and other exciting projects. The camp is for students ages 10 and up. Price:  $250 {Delta Grand Theatre 120 S. Market St. Opelousas}
  • "Express Yourself" Writing Camp will bring out the creativity in your child. In the camp, writing and art will be combined with skills meshed into fun writing activities. {J & R Educational Supply Store 3123 Johnston St. Lafayette}
  • Summer at The Bayou is a great camp for children of all ages to build a stronger relationship with God. There are four unique camps for different age groups. Price:  $25 - $196 {Lafayette Campus 2234 Kaliste Saloom Rd.}
  • Kidcam Camp at First United Methodist Church offers numerous classrooms to accommodate a variety of age groups, a kitchen and dining hall, a community group room, and outdoor play space.   • AcA Summer Arts Camp is both fun and educational. The camp offers fun, creative, and challenging hands-on experience for children. There is a variety of camps at different times throughout the entire summer to accommodate campers!   • Rock Camp teaches children and teens vocals, keys, guitar, bass, and drums. Special guests such as Wayne Toups, Blue Eclipse, Zoro (drummer for Lenny Kravitz), and many more have made special appearances in previous camps.   • Shadows-on-the-Teche History Camp offers children a fun and intellectual learning environment. Campers will explore activities which children might have experienced in 1834. Price:  $125 {317 E. Main St. New Iberia}
  • Cajun & Creole Summer Camp for Kids is open to ages 8-14. The days will be filled with fun, music, band labs, singing, dancing, cuisine, and other great educational activities. Price:  $250 {Vermilionville 300 Fisher Rd. Lafayette}
  • St. Thomas More Summer Camp offers a variety of camps to meet the needs of most families with sessions beginning June 2 and running through August 1.   • Lil' Sparkler Summer Dance Camp offers a safe, age-appropriate atmosphere for children and adolescents to learn dance techniques. The talented Sparklers dance team will help teach the fun classes June 17-20.   • Films in Motion's Young Actors Summer Camp is for those who aspire to become an actor/actress on the big screen. Whether it's just for fun or as a stepping stone to becoming a real actor, everyone will walk away with an amazing experience. The camp is for ages 7-17 and will be held July 14-18.
