Italian company Capsula Mundi has a wild and very different idea about how you might want to be buried. They want to start what they're calling green cemeteries, in where you could be buried inside of a seed like capsule. The pod is then planted like a seed in the soil, and a tree is planted on top of it. You feed the tree, therefore you become this tree.

You choose the kind of tree you want to be while you're still living. After you pass and you're buried in your seed, your family and friends look after and take care of you, the tree.

"To make a coffin nowadays you cut down an old tree, of valuable wood. A coffin has a short life spand and is a product of our society. The growth of  a tree needs from 10 to 40 years and a coffin is used for three days. Capsula Mundi is produced with 100% biodegradable material, starch plastic. The starch is taken from seasonal plants such as potatoes and corn. Capsula Mundi saves the life of  a tree and proposes to plant one more. By planting different kinds of trees next to each other it creates a forest. A place where children will be able to learn all about trees. It’s also a place for a beautiful walk and a reminder of our loved ones."

Kind of makes pretty logical sense doesn't it? Imagine if there was a tree you could take your children to visit that was a loved one who has passed? The kids could climb that tree. You could help take care of it and keep it healthy. It's a pretty personal way to stay connected with family and friends who pass. It also makes good sense in helping the environment. The more trees, the better right? We sort of need em to breathe and stuff.

From what I can tell, this is only being offered in Europe at the moment. Is this such a crazy idea? The more I've thought about it, the more I actually really like this idea. I lost my parents at a young age and only have a picture to hold and remember them by. I think I enjoy the idea of being able to go landscape and prune a tree they've become. I could take my kids to the tree for pictures. They could climb those trees.

Yes, the idea sounds a bit wacky at first, but truly think about it for minute.

There is also a company called Bios Urn that holds ashes in a biodegradable urn that will also turn you into tree.

Do you think it's a good idea?
