In Desoto Parish, Louisiana they have taken what might be considered an "eyesore" and turned it into a holiday spectacle. In Acadia Parish, they've taken a patch of pavement that might normally be used for playing tennis and turned it into an ice skating rink. In Youngsville, infrastructure elements designed to regulate the flow of traffic, aka the roundabouts, have been transformed into holiday displays that delight all who pass by.

The reason we decorate our towns, our yards, our houses, and bring dead trees into our homes is all about sharing joy. I think we all have a fond memory of something we saw as a child around Christmas time that stays with us as a reminder of the innocence we once felt. 

As we get older we find a lot of that innocence is replaced with the reality of Christmas. It usually shows up about 30 days after we open presents in the form of a credit card statement. Another "real" moment we experience at Christmas is the shocking realization that "we forgot" something important.
