There are a lot of things in life that I want to fix but just don't quite have the means to help. You know, things like world peace, hunger, poverty...poor selfie taking.

Wait a minute, I can help the world with the last one!

Here are four tips to taking a better selfie. The world will thank you later.

  1. Keep your phone at arm's length, but don't strain. Obviously you want to extend your phone out far enough from your face so that it doesn't distort your features. But not so far that you have to strain to hold it while you're getting the shot.
  2. Ask someone to help you out. This is almost counter-intuitive since it's a "selfie" but if you have a friend or two around, get them to steady the camera.
  3. Choose your background wisely. Don't pose in front of something like a branch, look out for photobombers, and in famous settings, move to the side so you get the scenery framed properly.
  4. Actually look at the camera. This will help you avoid getting that shot up the nose or having that huge forehead look.
