The Abbeville Police Department has released a statement on the recent violence that has been plaguing the city.

According to the statement: in the past few months, the Abbeville Police Department has taken a total of 66 firearms off of the city's streets.

Abbeville Chief of Police Bill Spearman extended his gratitude to the residents of Abbeville who are working with the police department to help rid the city of crime by reporting any suspicious activity.

Chief Spearman would like to thank all of the citizens who continue to speak out against these criminals and the violence they cause.
