ACA Says They’re Moving The Date Of Gulf Brew ‘Out Of Respect For The Community’
AcA's annual Gulf Brew event was initially scheduled for Saturday July 23, 2016. It's an awesome fundraising event beer lovers look forward to all year. This year's event date is being moved however because of what AcA says is "out of respect for the community". The original date coincides with the one year anniversary of an event Lafayette and Acadiana wishes never happened.
AcA executive director Dr. Gerd Wuestemann tells KATC -
AcA realizes that the original Gulf Brew date of July 23rd falls on the one-year anniversary of the tragic shooting at The Grand Theater. We believe that this will be a day for our community to reflect and look inward. In recognizing this, we think it’s important to move our fundraiser to the following weekend out of respect for our community.
Gulf Brew has been moved to Saturday, July 30 at Blackham Coliseum. All tickets sold for the original date will be honored. For more information on Gulf Brew, visit www.AcadianaCenterfortheArts.org or call 337-233-7060.
