Acadiana Area Restaurants Expect Big Crowds For Mother’s Day
The traditional thinking for Mother's Day is to let Mom have a day off from her normal very busy schedule. No time in the kitchen for the guest of honor, who could ask for more? So that means eating out, and local restaurants are ready to make your Mother smile.
Erica Burns of the Louisiana Restaurant Association says Mother's Day is typically a very busy one for the state's food service industry.
"Since it's a day to treat mom and do something really nice for her, you will see more of the higher end restaurants that have really strong reservation booking. Brunch is probably the most popular day part and you'll also see restaurants within hotels that have buffets, that's usually a good bet too,"
Burns made those comments to the Louisiana Radio Network. She went on to say the average ticket for a Mother's Day meal averages out to about $30 per person since many families choose to treat Mom to a more upscale meal than just a regular lunch.
Many restaurants are already taking reservations for Sunday so if you have a particular place in mind you might want to call ahead so you won't be waiting for hours for a table. Mom wouldn't like that.
