Acclaimed Songwriter Dean Dillon to Appear at The Grouse Room in Lafayette
Dean Dillon, one of the biggest names in country songwriting history, will be in Lafayette on Friday, July 28th at The Grouse Room.
The event is called "The Writers Round" and will also feature Acadiana native Jaryd Lane.
Dillon began playing guitar when he was only 7 years old and by the time he finished high school was headed to Nashville. He would go on to record several albums on his own, charting several singles on the Billboard country charts.
However, Dean Dillon's biggest success would be as a songwriter. He wrote the 1983 George Jones hit "Tennessee Whiskey" and several George Strait songs including "The Chair", "Ocean Front Property", "Nobody in His Right Mind Would've Left Her", "It Ain't Cool to Be Crazy About You", "If I Know Me" and the list goes on. George Strait has recorded a total of 54 Dean Dillon tunes to date!
Other artists to record his tunes include Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, Vern Gosdin, Keith Whitley and many more.
Dean was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002. He is a three-time Grammy nominee with a total of 26 Number One records.
In 2013, BMI gave Dillon the ICON Award and just this year Chris Stapleton garnered an ACM Song of the Year nomination for "Tennessee Whiskey".
