Alabama Playing Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Feb. 24
Roll on family, roll on crew
Roll on, Mama, like I asked you to do
And roll on, eighteen-wheeler, roll on
These are lyrics to Alabama's 1984 hit "Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler)".
The song is also a bit of the inspiration for the name of the legendary country group's new 2023 tour -- "ROLL ON 2 NORTH AMERICA TOUR"
Founding members Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry are heading back on the road this year and they've already announced a few new stops, including another one in Louisiana.
New to the tour is a Friday, February 24, 2023 date at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans with special guest The SteelDrivers.
Tickets are on sale now for the show and you can purchase them at Ticketmaster.com. Prices range from $55.50 to $75.50, plus applicable fees.
It appears that the entire 2023 tour has not been released yet as there are only four dates listed on the band's website. Lucky for us though, two are in Louisiana!
Feb 15 - San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo - San Antonio, TX
Feb 17 - Brookshire Grocery Arena - Bossier City, LA
Feb 24 - The Smoothie King Center - New Orleans, LA
Apr 1 - State Farm Arena - Atlanta, Georgia
Of course, Alabama lost one of its original members late last year with the passing of multi-instrumentalist Jeff Cook. He passed away on November 7 in Destin, Florida at the age of 73 after a decade-long battle with Parkinson's disease.
