(KMDL-FM) - If you have Amazon Prime and need to fill up your vehicle today, you could possibly save some big money.

How the Amazon Prime Gas Discount Works

Amazon Prime is once again bringing back a big promotion for one day only. It's where Prime members can get $1 off per gallon of gas (up to 35 gallons) at participating BP, Amoco and ampm gas stations today, on Friday, Oct. 3.

The one-day promotion is part of a partnership between Amazon and BP's Earnify rewards program. To qualify for this reward, Prime members must link their Amazon account to Earnify. Once they do that, the discount will automatically apply at participating locations, provided the members enter their phone number at the pump or use the Earnify app.

Where to Find Participating Stations

According to Amazon, more than 7,500 gas stations nationwide are participating in the promotion. The discount applies to all fuel grades and a minimum purchase isn't necessary.

Participating locations can be found through the Earnify app.

The $1-per-gallon offer breaks down as follows:

  • Earnify's standard 5-cent discount
  • Amazon's 5-cent Prime discount
  • 90-cent promotional bonus

What Happens After the Promotion Ends

After the promotion ends today, Prime members can still save at the pump. Members who link their accounts will continue to get 10 cents off per gallon at eligible stations.

Amazon Prime memberships run $14.99 a month or $139 annually.

The Earnify app, which replaced BP's previous rewards platform, can help members find nearby participating stations and earn ongoing fuel and in-store discounts. While the app is not required to redeem the offer, it does provide additional features and convenience.
