It's a chance to see life along the Mighty Mississippi River as you've never seen it before. It's a riverboat cruise and officials with the American Queen Steamboat Company have announced a new ship will soon be ready to take passengers on cruises up and down the Mississippi.

The company, based out of Memphis Tennessee, already has two other ships that sail out of New Orleans. The American Queen and the American Duchess will be joined in 2020 by the American Countess.

The American Countess is currently being constructed in Houma but company officials have plans for that vessel to be carrying passengers by April of next year. The American Countess will feature four decks and will offer 123 staterooms for 245 guests.

The American Countess will offer several multi-day cruises from New Orleans. Itineraries will range from six to 15 days and fares start at $1,699 a person for the boat’s eight-day itinerary and $4,399 for a 15-day trip.
