We've all been a little shocked at the colder temperatures here in the south since the beginning of the year. But who would ever think it might be a gigantic problem for alligators to survive in?

ABC 7 in Sarasota, Florida and Inside Edition have some incredible video footage of how these huge reptiles are faring in the unusually cold and brutal winter.

I guess I never thought about the swamps being frozen solid, and the alligators struggling to breathe during hibernation, because it is so seldom that we are that cold here in the south. These gators might look like they are frozen in the water, but they are breathing through their noses, which are above the ice. Amazing!! (I can't help but think that Troy Landry would be proud) Check out the videos below from Shallotte River Swamp Park in North Carolina.
