Fans of Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns football team have a day in October circled in red. That day is October the 17th and that's when the Cajuns will face one of their toughest Sun Belt Conference tests of the season when they face Arkansas State.

Through the years the Cajuns and Red Wolves have built up quite a nice little rivalry in almost all sports but especially football. However, the rivalry and football itself need to take a backseat in the minds and hearts of fans of both programs this morning.

It was announced yesterday that Arkansas State Head Football Coach Blake Anderson will be taking a leave of absence. The reason for this departure from the sidelines is one that almost all of us can relate to. It's a cancer diagnosis. No, Coach Anderson has not been diagnosed but his wife Wendy is once again in a fight for her life.

This is the second time in three years that Wendy Anderson has been diagnosed with cancer. Mrs. Anderson was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2017. She was treated successfully then but unfortunately, cancer has returned.

In his absence, the Red Wolves football program will be guided by Defensive Coordinator David Duggan.

To Coach Anderson and his family, we graciously offer our support in prayer, thought, and deed. If there is a way we can ease the burden of your family's battle please let us know. We look forward to seeing you on October 17th when the Cajuns travel to Jonesboro to take on the Red Wolves.
