Blackstone Seasoning, Sold at Walmart, Recalled Over Salmonella Fears

If you have purchased this season at Walmart or any other retailer, for that matter, the FDA advises: do not use it, don't consume it, and please dispose of it properly. Of course, you'll want to make sure you've arranged for your refund or replacement product.

What Prompted the Ranch Seasoning Recall?
The official FDA advisory on the recall tells us that Blackstone Products, based out of Utah, voluntarily recalled the seasoning products because of another recall. That recall was instituted by California Dairies Inc. That recall involved dry milk powder, which is used in the manufacture of the Blackstone product. It's also used in many other products; the list is extensive.
If you have the product in your home, chances are you purchased it at Walmart. There was an exclusive agreement in regard to the sale of that seasoning blend. You could have also purchased the Blackstone Parmesan Ranch Seasoning via the Blackstone website.
The Centers for Disease Control says the symptoms of Salmonella include fever, vomiting, diarrhea, which may include blood, nausea, vomiting, and severe abdominal pain. Those with weakened immune systems, in frail health, the very old, or the very young might be even more susceptible to complications from the illness.
We should note that this recall only involves this particular product. The other products offered via Blackstone, either through Walmart or their online store, are fine for consumption. The products that have raised concern are these.
