Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans leveled New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore from behind yesterday near the sideline during a dead ball.

He then took a swing at Lattimore, but surprisingly, wasn't ejected from the game.

Evans was suspended 1 game by the NFL today as punishment for his actions. According to ESPN's Jenna Laine, he plans to appeal.

Injured Tampa quarterback Jameis Winston poked Lattimore in the helmet from behind. Lattimore responded with a shove, which led to Evans charging in with the bush league move.

"I let my emotions get the best of me," Evans said after his team got beat by the Saints 30-10. "I thought (Lattimore) was picking a fight with my quarterback. It’s something I shouldn’t have done. It was very childish. I shouldn’t have done that. Unprofessional."

Lattimore said he was glad Evans wasn't ejected.

"I wanted to go at him after that," said Lattimore, who held Evans to 1 catch on 6 targets.
