Carencro Resident Frustrated After Discolored Water Fills Her Washing Machine, Ruins Laundry
A Carencro woman is asking the city to do better after her washing machine was filled with discolored water.
Kimberly Arcenaux posted two photos of her washing machine filled with colored water in a Carencro Facebook group and her airing of grievances were met with commentary from others who were also frustrated.
One woman commented that the same issue with brown water ruined her $100 comforter.
Earlier this summer, Carencro residents were surprised to see pink water coming from their faucets, but that issue was quickly resolved by the end of the day after officials blamed the coloration on chemicals being out of balance.
As far as this issue goes, numerous plumbing companies say that brown or discolored water is commonly caused by minerals, sediment, or rust that accumulates in the water mains over time.
More than likely, the issue causing the brown-colored water in Kimberly's washing machine is due to some type of disturbance in the water main that stirred up those deposits.
Another commenter said she saw the same coloration in the water at the Carencro Walmart store which led her to believe that "someone didn't flush."
There were others who voiced their frustrations over the water that isn't drinkable or usable to wash clothes. Even though the issue is temporary, people were upset over laundry that was ruined permanently.
According to one person, city hall does offer rust remover and advises anyone who runs into this problem to avoid drying their clothing.
The woman claims to live in a subdivision behind the Burger King and the Chevron Station, not far from the Hector Connelly Exit off of I-49.
One person commented they have been on Water District North (LCG) for over 20 years and have never seen any issues with discolored water.
While many vented about their water issues, there were others who lived right up the street who have never experienced any issues. In the past, Carencro city officials have been very responsive to water issues, but it doesn't necessarily make things any less frustrating for those who are affected.
Hopefully, things get resolved sooner than later with whatever water issues are happening in Carencro.
