And you know there will be tunes in the background that simply bring the magic of the moment to life. Wait, what? Why is it so quiet? Why no tunes?

Evidently, the playing of music on Carnival Cruise Line is not at the discretion of passengers; it, by rule, is under the control of the ship, at least in one of its most popular forms.

Carnival and Other Cruise Lines Prefer Personal Enjoyment of Music On Board

While you are certainly allowed and encouraged to bring along your earbuds and wireless headphones, the one thing Carnival Cruise Line will not allow you to bring on board is your wireless Bluetooth speaker.

To be precise, Bluetooth speakers have been on the "not allowed" list for Carnival Cruises since late 2024. The primary reason given for the ban? Noise pollution, which is a quaint way of saying some guests don't have the restraint to listen to their tunes at a moderate volume.

So that means the rest of us can't have a Bluetooth speaker in our stateroom or on our balcony. It's good to know that so much of our vacation is still manipulated by people we wouldn't hang out with.

Other banned items on many major cruise lines include: Irons and steamers (fire hazard), Power strips and surge protectors, Drones (due to privacy and airspace regulations). Trust me, they do search your luggage, and they have learned where savvy travelers attempt to hide things.

Candles or anything with an open flame, alcohol, and non-prescription drugs. It's always a good idea to check your cruise line website before you finalize packing, just to make sure you don't have something that you'd either have to leave behind or leave in storage for the duration of your vacation.
