Thursday was not a regular school day for students and faculty of Catholic High of New Iberia. Big Red, the Panther Nation, the whole community came together in a show of spirit and support for the undefeated football team that has one more game and one more goal to reach for this season to be perfect.

Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the Mercedes Benz Superdome the undefeated Panthers will take on the once beaten Calvary Baptist Cavaliers of Shreveport in the LHSAA Division III State Championship game. Both schools have been prolific scoring machines this season. Last week Calvary Baptist defeated Riverside Academy by a score of 45-13 to earn a spot in the championship while Catholic High of New Iberia downed Newman by a score of 55-35.

The host of Louisiana Football Friday's on Newstalk 96.5 KPEL Ryan Baniewicz had a chance to catch up with Catholic High Head Coach Brent Indest to get his thoughts on having his hometown team one win away from a state crown.
