5th Annual Erath Lighting of the Christmas Lights

The Town of Erath and the Erath 4th of July Association would like to invite everyone to attend the 5th Annual Lighting of the Christmas Lights. This year's lighting ceremony will take place on Friday, November 25 at 6:30pm in front of Erath City Hall, located at 115 West Edwards Street. The town Christmas tree that was donated by the Landry family of Erath, along with all Christmas decorations, will be lit at this time.

Santa Claus will be making a special appearance and will be taking pictures with the children. Hot chocolate will be provided by Champagne's Supermarket. The event is open to the public and there is no admission charge.

A food drive will be held in conjunction with the Lighting of the Christmas Lights. The town encourages everyone attending the lighting to bring can goods or non-perishable food. The food will be collected and donated to needy families in our community.

Opelousas Christmas Celebration

Downtown Opelousas will shine a little brighter this holiday season as 14 live oaks on the Courthouse Square will be fully illuminated with holiday lights. The tree lighting project also coincides with and serves to enhance the 63-year anniversary of the nativity scene lighting on the Courthouse Square.

The lighting of the nativity and the oak trees will take place on November 26 at 5:00 pm.  During the event, there will be a choir and refreshments. Santa will also be on site for pictures from 3:00-5:00pm.  Attendees can also get a first- hand look of the DECK THE SQUARE Art Exhibit, which will feature decorated oversized ornaments in storefront windows. These original works of art will be designed by aspiring Opelousas student artists.
