(KMDL-FM) " I remember one Christmas..." We all have a story that starts like that. The Christmas Holiday, at least on the secular level, is all about creating and preserving moments. Those cherished moments of wide-eyed wonder become the emotional memories that evolve into the lumps in our throats that we feel as adults. And nothing brings a lump to the throat and water to the eyes like an old school holiday special on television.
Why Are Boomers So Emotional About Christmas Specials on Television?
The reason so many of us "Boomers" get all emotional over old school Christmas specials on television is that back in our time, they were truly special. They were only broadcast once during the Christmas season, and if you missed it, you missed it. And for kids growing up with limited electronic entertainment choices, missing "Charlie Brown" or "The Grinch" was a really big deal.

In today's on-demand world, we can usually lay our hands on any of these specials at a moment's notice. Some of the more "special" specials might require that you sign up for a streaming service or pay a one-time fee. Then again, some of us still have the VHS and/or DVD versions of these specials, which were first issued several years ago.
We asked you which holiday specials your family never misses each Christmas and to say the results were "varied" would be an understatement. There are specials that are on the list that are fairly recent, and others that go back to the time of our parents and grandparents.

Oddly enough, some of the presentations you see described below are also prominently featured on the "Most Hated Christmas Specials" list, but since Santa could be watching, we are going to play "nice" and go with the more positive responses.
