A Church Point mother is facing charges of child desertion as well as drug charges following her arrest earlier this week. Church Point Police allege that Mackenzie Olivier left two young children, ages two and five years old, at home alone unsupervised.

While responding to that call around midnight on April 19th officers also discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia lying around the residence. Among the illegal items that were noted in the home were cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana. Officers confiscated the drugs and a warrant was issued for Olivier.

Olivier was taken into custody on April 22nd.

The children are currently living in the care of family members pending the outcome of an investigation by Child Services. Olivier was booked into the Church Point jail and later transferred to the Acadia Parish jail.
