(KMDL-FM) Chances are, unless you're some cruise in the Caribbean, you are reading this in a cold place. And by cold place, I mean Louisiana this morning. It is bitterly cold by Gulf South standards, and that means almost every office in the state that is open for business today will be too cold for the employees who work there.

Staying comfortable in your working environment is vital to productivity. It's hard to think when your teeth are chattering. And, I learned from personal experience at our office this morning, that when your hands get cold, touch screens on computer devices don't work.

For many of you, the solution might seem simple: just plug in a space heater or turn the thermostat up so it gets warm where you are. The problems with those scenarios are these. Many offices don't let employees control the temperature. Or, the climate controls are manipulated by evil computer overlords hidden in our midst as "smart thermostats".
